Disorder

Unlucky

Decreased luck

Unlucky imposes LCK -2 on your cat, reducing its Luck stat by 2. Luck in Mewgenics affects critical hit chance, loot quality, event outcomes, and various random rolls throughout the game. A -2 Luck reduction means fewer critical hits, worse loot drops, and less favorable random event outcomes.

Unlucky is heritable and can pass from parent to kitten through breeding. It can also be acquired through events or applied with a Disorder Syringe from the Organ Grinder. Among the stat-penalty disorders, Unlucky targets Luck, which has broad but subtle effects across many game systems rather than dramatically impacting any single mechanic.

Unlucky is a purely negative disorder that should be replaced when possible. The Luck penalty's impact is spread across many systems, making it hard to notice in any single interaction but cumulatively significant over a long adventure. Cats that rely on critical hits for damage (especially with Distemper's crit scaling) suffer more from the Luck reduction. For builds that do not depend on random rolls or crits, Unlucky is a tolerable penalty compared to losing Strength or Constitution.
