Minimal damage but reliable short-range displacement — useful for pushing an enemy off a hazard tile, creating a gap before an attack, or breaking an enemy's positioning advantage. Pairs well with the Stomach trinket, which doubles consumable effects.

One tile of knockback is modest compared to tools like Lil' Slugger (5 tiles), but Butter Bean's advantage is its consumable flexibility — it occupies a consumable slot rather than a weapon slot, meaning it supplements rather than replaces your primary offensive tool. Being adjacent is required, so it functions as a reactive melee-range utility that fires off without spending your weapon use. The small displacement can still meaningfully reposition an enemy standing on a trap, fire tile, or in a critical chokepoint.

Butter Bean is a situational utility item best suited for builds that care about precise enemy positioning. Pushing an enemy one tile off a chokepoint or away from an ally it was about to attack is the ideal use case. It's not a primary strategy item, but at common rarity it's an accessible and free option that supplements movement control without slot competition. On maps where even 1-tile shifts in enemy position matter, Butter Bean's value exceeds its humble appearance.
