Cymothoa Exigua

Named after the real Cymothoa exigua — an isopod parasite that attaches to a fish's tongue and functionally replaces it. In Mewgenics, this creature replaces charm with capability: it attaches to the face and provides STR +2 and DEX +2, boosting melee damage and dexterity-dependent effects, at the cost of CHA -2. A solid trade for physical fighters who never needed charisma and want straightforward combat stat improvements from their face slot.

STR +2 and DEX +2 is the highest combined offensive stat bonus available on a face piece. Most face armor options offer only one bonus stat: Hunter's Patch gives DEX +2 alone, Atomic Mark gives INT +2 alone. Cymothoa Exigua provides both, making it uniquely powerful for builds that scale both STR and DEX. The CHA -2 penalty hurts on Muggers or any CHA-scaling build, but is irrelevant to most physical fighters.

Cymothoa Exigua is the premier face piece for STR/DEX hybrid physical builds, outperforming Hunter's Patch and Metal Plate on any cat that benefits from both offensive stats. Equip it on Butchers who also invest in DEX for accuracy, or Muggers who need STR alongside their natural DEX emphasis. The only reason to skip it is if CHA -2 compromises a specific social interaction or CHA-scaling ability you depend on.
