The battle-start trigger fires before any combatant acts, so both the ability use and status application happen at the very opening of every fight. This means the wearer effectively gets a free ability cast every fight — useful for applying an early slow, damage debuff, or self-buff before enemy turns begin. The dual trigger (ability + status) means two separate effects fire from a single passive, compounding opening-round advantage.
