Nightshade

A rare trinket that passively applies Poison on hit and amplifies all status effects via AmplifyStatus. Nightshade is a strong pick for any status-heavy build — it both adds poison to your attacks and makes every debuff you apply hit harder and last longer. Particularly effective when combined with other status-applying items like Vibrating Skull, Fly Larva, or the Bee Stinger.

The Poison passive adds a stacking DoT to every basic attack, while AmplifyStatus then amplifies that Poison — and every other status you apply — making it more severe. This double synergy means Nightshade is uniquely self-reinforcing: it creates a status and then amplifies it simultaneously. If you stack multiple Poison sources (Nightshade + Fly Larva + Bee Stinger), AmplifyStatus multiplies all of them at once.

Nightshade is arguably the best rare trinket for status-focused builds, providing both generation and amplification in a single item. Best on melee or hybrid cats that attack frequently to proc the Poison passive regularly. Even in builds that aren't fully status-focused, the AmplifyStatus component improves any incidental debuffs your abilities apply. If you find Nightshade and Empty Syringe in the same run, the combined amplification becomes substantial.
