Scorched Earth

Scorched Earth is a very rare trinket that reduces the mana cost of elemental spells. For cats built around fire, ice, lightning, or other elemental abilities, this enables more frequent casting throughout a fight. At very rare rarity the cost reduction is likely significant — potentially enough to make expensive elemental spells spammable that would otherwise be limited resources.

Elemental abilities in Mewgenics include fire, ice, lightning, earth, and possibly other typed damage sources. Scorched Earth's reduction applies specifically to this category, meaning non-elemental abilities like physical strikes or generic status spells do not benefit. The more of your ability kit consists of elemental abilities, the greater the aggregate mana savings per fight. This interacts with Dunce Cap (which reduces all ability costs) for a stacking effect that can make an elemental-heavy loadout extraordinarily mana-efficient.

Scorched Earth is a must-pick for elemental mage builds that feel mana-constrained. If your rotation includes expensive fire or lightning spells that you can only cast once or twice per fight, this trinket may double the number of times you can use them. Pair with items that amplify elemental damage to maximize the value of the extra casts you gain. Outside of elemental builds the item does nothing, so evaluate your ability list before equipping. A narrow but exceptional trinket for the right archetype.
