Slimy Mask

Uncommon face armor from the Slimy set. Causes CHA -1, catches incoming projectiles, and retaliates against melee attackers with revenge damage. As the face slot of the Slimy set alongside the Slimy Necklace, running both pieces maximizes projectile immunity and melee punishment. Strong in biomes with heavy ranged or mixed-damage enemy groups where intercepting projectiles prevents meaningful damage.

As the face slot of the Slimy set, the Slimy Mask competes against face armors with higher Shield or offensive effects. Its value comes entirely from the two combat-interaction passives: CatchProjectiles eliminates ranged damage from projectile-using enemies, and MeleeRevengeDamage ensures any melee hit costs the attacker health as well. CHA -1 is the only downside, which is relevant only for charisma-scaling builds.

The Slimy Mask is at its best on tanks and frontliners in runs that feature archer-type or projectile-firing enemies, where CatchProjectiles converts heavy ranged damage into zero. When combined with the Slimy Necklace, the doubled projectile catch rate means the cat becomes effectively immune to projectile damage from most normal enemies. Consider pairing both Slimy pieces with defensive mutations or abilities that further punish attackers to maximize the punishment feedback loop.
