Free Spell
The next spell you cast costs 0 mana.
Free Spell is a buff that makes the next spell cast cost 0 mana, regardless of its normal mana cost or any Hex stacks increasing the cost. One stack of Free Spell is consumed per spell cast, so each stack provides one free spell. This allows the use of expensive high-impact spells without depleting mana reserves, making it especially valuable for mana-hungry builds or when mana is running low.
Free Spell directly counteracts the Hex debuff's mana cost increase, as the spell costs 0 regardless of how many Hex stacks are applied. This makes Free Spell a valuable response when dealing with Hex-heavy encounters. The buff also pairs well with Insight (which reduces mana costs) and Charge (which generates extra mana), creating a comprehensive mana management toolkit for spellcaster builds.
Strategically, Free Spell should be saved for the most expensive spell in your rotation to extract maximum mana value. Using Free Spell on a 1-mana ability saves only 1 mana, while using it on a 5-mana ability saves 5 mana. Free Spell stacks from multiple sources, allowing you to plan turns with multiple free casts. Combined with Double Cast, a single Free Spell can effectively produce three spell casts worth of value from one mana investment.
