Grappled

Immobile as long as it's next to the thing that grappled it.

Grappled is a positional control debuff that prevents the afflicted unit from moving as long as it remains adjacent to the grappling unit. Unlike Immobile (which locks movement regardless of position), Grappled specifically ties the restriction to proximity with the grappler. If the grappler is killed or moved away, the grappled unit regains its freedom to move.

Grappled does not restrict attacking or spell casting, only movement. The grappled unit can still fight from its current position, making it primarily a positioning tool rather than a complete shutdown. Grappled is most effective against melee units that need to reposition or ranged units that want to maintain distance from threats.

To break free from Grappled, the grappler must be removed from adjacency, either by killing it, knocking it away, or using effects that move the grappler. This creates a natural incentive to focus fire on the grappling enemy. Against grapplers, knockback effects are particularly effective as they create distance and break the adjacency requirement. Grappled is less common than other immobilization effects but can be impactful in encounters where positioning is critical.
