Windy

Windy: 1

Windy is a common weather effect in Mewgenics that introduces consistent wind displacement to the battlefield. At the end of each round, every unit, both friendly and hostile, is pushed one tile in a random direction. A persistent visual indicator on screen shows the current wind direction, allowing you to anticipate where everyone will end up.

The displacement affects all units equally, creating both risks and opportunities. On the risk side, wind can push your carefully positioned cats out of optimal attack range, off defensive terrain, or directly into environmental hazards like broken glass, toxic waste puddles, cactus spines, or enemy threat zones. On the opportunity side, you can exploit the wind direction to push enemies into those same hazards, or position your cats so that the wind moves them closer to their targets rather than farther away.

Windy also clears Tall Grass tiles, which has a significant tactical impact. Tall Grass provides a 50% dodge chance to any unit standing in it, and enemies frequently use it as cover. Wind displacement removes this advantage, forcing hidden enemies out of cover and making them easier to hit. For teams that struggle with dodge-stacking enemies, Windy can actually be a beneficial weather.

Knockback Resistance items and abilities prevent or reduce wind displacement, allowing your cats to hold their positions while enemies get shuffled around. This creates an asymmetric advantage that can be very powerful in the right team composition.

Windy can appear in any biome and is one of the most common weather effects. Its impact is moderate compared to the game's more extreme weathers, making it a good weather for learning how displacement mechanics work in Mewgenics.
