Boss
Guillotina
Three escalating home invasion fights. ~500 HP, frequent turns, heavy butt-slam and toss attacks that scatter formation. Swallow mechanic removes a unit temporarily (must escape by flailing). Enrages at ~50% HP, heals a chunk of HP and becomes more aggressive. Fought by retired cats only.
Guillotina is the first House Boss in Mewgenics, a morbidly obese cannibalistic stray cat formerly owned by Butch who invades your home after you clear The Boneyard and progress into Act 2. Unlike adventure bosses, Guillotina is fought exclusively by your retired cats, the ones living at home rather than actively adventuring. The player receives a 7-day warning before the invasion, giving time to prepare items, level up retired cats, and assemble a proper team. Do not attempt this fight with fewer than four retired cats with diverse class roles; Guillotina has far too much HP and too many actions per turn for a small team to handle.
Guillotina attacks across three escalating encounters, each harder than the last. In the first encounter, she swallows cats temporarily (they must escape from inside her), butt-slams formations apart to scatter your positioning, and at roughly 50% HP enters an enrage state where she heals a chunk of HP and becomes significantly more aggressive. This enrage window is the most dangerous part of Phase 1. In Phase 2, her body and severed head separate into two independent entities, each with 250 HP and capable of acting on their own. Her spit and knockback attacks can throw cats to the opposite side of the arena, making mobility skills essential for repositioning after being launched.
A Thief/Hunter/Tank/Cleric composition works well here. The Tank should absorb Guillotina's frontal attacks while everyone else stays spread to avoid her area-of-effect slams. A Cleric is mandatory for healing through the stomp, swallow, and Phase 2 knockback damage. Having at least one mobility skill per cat makes it much easier to reposition after her knockback attacks. Prioritize not letting her catch the whole team in a line, as her chain attacks punish clustered formations severely. Guillotina represents a major difficulty spike because retired cats are often under-equipped compared to active adventurers, so stockpiling good items specifically for your home defenders is an important long-term strategy.
