Boss

Magnus

Alley miniboss (details to be verified).

Magnus is a mini-boss encountered in The Alley, resembling the Fighter class archetype with a combat style built around aggressive movement and multi-hit attacks. Unlike the more gimmick-heavy Alley mini-bosses like Fenrir or Lucy, Magnus is a straightforward brawler who excels at closing distance and punishing clustered formations. His fight tests whether players understand positioning against a fast, mobile melee threat.

Magnus has two signature moves. Chain Dash requires him to be lined up with an opponent in a cardinal direction, after which he rushes forward and attacks. After hitting, he immediately pivots and dashes toward another target in a different direction, repeating until he fails to hit a new opponent. This means a poorly positioned team with multiple cats in cardinal alignment can take a devastating chain of hits from a single ability use. Spin has Magnus rotate at extreme speed, hitting everybody adjacent to him 3 times for low damage each, making it dangerous for any cat standing too close.

The key counter to Magnus is avoiding cardinal alignment between your cats. Spread diagonally rather than in rows or columns to prevent Chain Dash from bouncing between multiple targets. Keep fragile cats like Clerics and Mages away from Magnus's immediate vicinity to avoid Spin damage. Ranged attackers can pressure him safely from diagonal angles where Chain Dash cannot reach. A Tank positioned to absorb the initial Chain Dash hit while other cats attack from offset positions makes for a clean, efficient fight. Magnus is one of the more dangerous Alley mini-bosses if your positioning is sloppy, but quite manageable once you understand the Chain Dash geometry.
