Magnus is a Fighter-class cat miniboss with 75 HP, 5 damage, 2 movement, and 5 Luck, found in The Alley. He represents the Fighter archetype among the four Alley minibosses that each mirror a different starter class. Despite his low movement speed, Magnus is one of the most dangerous melee threats among minibosses thanks to his ability to chain multiple devastating charges in a single turn.
Magnus has two core attacks. Chain Dash requires him to align cardinally with a target, then rushes toward them with a powerful strike. After connecting, he can immediately chain into another dash in a new direction if another target is aligned, continuing until he fails to hit a fresh target. This means a clustered party can be hit by multiple consecutive charges in a single action. His second ability is Spin, a close-range attack that rotates him at extreme speed and hits everybody near him 3 times for low damage per hit. Magnus typically uses Chain Dash to close distance on grouped cats, then follows up with Spin if multiple cats remain adjacent.
The most effective counter is to spread your cats apart and attack from range. With only 2 movement, Magnus struggles to reach scattered targets, and his Chain Dash cannot chain if no second target is aligned after the first hit. Keeping cats off his cardinal lines prevents the dash entirely. Ranged attackers and casters who can maintain distance are ideal for this fight, while melee-heavy parties need to be very careful about positioning to avoid feeding multi-target Chain Dash combos. Magnus has a Champion variant with enhanced stats.
