Tormentor is the true threat of The Coven encounter in Act 2's Core area. Rather than being fought directly as an independent boss, the Tormentor is summoned at the end of The Coven's four-round ritual cycle when the fourth body rises and The Coven performs the Death phase. The Tormentor devours The Coven itself and becomes the actual boss you must defeat. With 120 HP, 8 ATK, 3 SPD, and 8 LCK, it is significantly more combat-capable than The Coven's ritual bodies.

The Tormentor's power scales directly based on how many of the five pentagram candles remain intact when it is summoned. Each surviving candle grants the Tormentor additional abilities, making candle management during The Coven's ritual phase the most important factor in determining the Tormentor's difficulty. If all five candles are destroyed or extinguished before the summon, the Tormentor arrives significantly weakened. If all candles remain lit, it becomes one of the most dangerous encounters in Act 2.

Since the Tormentor's difficulty is determined before it even appears, the real strategy happens during The Coven phase. Water and Wind element abilities can extinguish candles instantly without needing to deplete their 50 HP, making Druid and Mage classes nearly essential for an easy Tormentor fight. If you failed to destroy all candles, the Tormentor fight itself becomes a straight damage race where sustained healing from a Cleric and consistent ranged pressure are necessary to outlast its enhanced moveset. Focus fire on the Tormentor and avoid splitting damage between it and any remaining summons from The Coven phase.
