Zaratana is a House Boss and one of two kaiju-scale creatures in the third House Boss encounter of Act 2, fighting against Pyrophina in a massive arena battle where your retired cats are caught in the crossfire. This enormous turtle-like kaiju uses meteor-based ranged attacks and high-speed shell dashes, complementing Pyrophina's more physical fighting style. The encounter is unique in that neither kaiju specifically targets your party; the danger comes from being collateral damage in their titanic clash.
Zaratana's primary attack is Meteor Bombardment, launching a barrage of meteors in a cone shape toward her target that explode on impact, dealing heavy damage and lighting the area on fire. Her other signature move is Spin Dash, where she retracts into her shell and spins rapidly around the map, dealing damage and knocking back anything she hits. When either kaiju tramples the other, they headbutt for massive damage, creating shockwaves that can catch nearby cats. The combination of Zaratana's wide-area meteor strikes and Pyrophina's Firestorm means the arena progressively becomes covered in fire tiles as the fight continues.
The fight ends when either kaiju dies. If Pyrophina falls, Zaratana joins your journey and wishes to activate an obelisk in The Core, and you receive Zaratana's Collar as a reward. You can influence which kaiju survives by focusing your party's damage on the one you want to eliminate. Stay mobile to avoid Meteor Bombardment's cone and watch for Spin Dash patterns that sweep across the arena. Fire resistance and Burn healing are increasingly important as the arena fills with flames. Position near the center to maximize escape routes when either kaiju launches a wide-area attack.
