The Core

Industrial / Underground Core

The Core is an Act 2 location set deep beneath the earth's surface in a hellish environment of magma flows, obsidian formations, and extreme heat. This is one of the most punishing areas in Act 2, with persistent fire-based environmental hazards that can chip away at your team before combat even begins. Lava tiles are scattered throughout the maps and will apply Burn to any cat that steps on them, making movement planning essential.

The enemy pool in The Core features demon and flame-themed creatures that resist fire damage and frequently apply Burn stacks to your cats. Many enemies here have high base damage and aggressive AI, making defensive abilities and healing more important than in earlier areas. Water and ice-element abilities are strong picks for The Core, as they exploit the fire enemies' elemental weakness and can extinguish Burn stacks on your own team. Avoid bringing fire-focused builds, since most enemies here will shrug off the damage entirely.

The boss of The Core is The Coven, a multi-target encounter with roughly 300 HP split across several witches who support each other with healing and buff abilities. Taking down The Coven requires prioritizing targets carefully: leaving certain witches alive too long allows them to resurrect fallen allies or apply devastating debuffs to your entire team. AoE damage and ability-disruption effects are particularly effective here. Pyrophina, a house boss, also appears in The Core for players pursuing her questline.

Clearing The Core unlocks the Butcher class, a melee-focused powerhouse that thrives on close-range combat and self-sustain through lifesteal mechanics. The Butcher's aggressive playstyle rewards players who like to get into the thick of fights rather than kiting from range. Its abilities synergize well with high-STR builds and bleed-focused strategies.
