Brain Damage
You can't use item actions. +2 Brace.
Brain Damage prevents your cat from using item actions but compensates with +2 Brace, which reduces all incoming damage by 2. The item action restriction means the cat cannot use consumables, trinket abilities, or other item-based actions during combat. The +2 Brace provides a solid defensive bonus that mitigates chip damage from weak attacks.
Brain Damage is heritable and can pass from parent to kitten through breeding. It can also be acquired through events or applied with a Disorder Syringe from the Organ Grinder. The item restriction is less severe than equipment slot restrictions since it only affects active item use during combat, not passive item bonuses. Your cat can still equip items for their stat bonuses; it just cannot activate their special abilities.
Strategically, Brain Damage is manageable on cats that do not rely on item actions. If your build primarily uses basic attacks and spells, the item action restriction is irrelevant, and the +2 Brace is a free defensive bonus. It is more problematic on builds that depend on consumable items for healing or buffs. The +2 Brace stacks with other Brace sources like Fossilized (+2 Brace) and Boils (+1 Brace), potentially creating significant damage reduction against weak attacks.
