Boils

Boils grants your cat +1 Brace, reducing all incoming damage by 1. This is a straightforward defensive bonus with no downside, making it one of the simplest and mildest disorders in the game. The +1 damage reduction applies to every hit, which is most effective against weak, frequent attacks and negligible against heavy single hits.

Boils is heritable and belongs to the hygiene disorder category. It can pass from parent to kitten through breeding or be acquired through events, dirty nursery environments, or the Organ Grinder's Disorder Syringe. Despite its unpleasant name, Boils is one of the few purely positive disorders, offering a small but consistent defensive improvement with zero drawback.

Boils is a fine filler disorder if you have nothing better. The +1 Brace stacks with Brain Damage (+2 Brace) and Fossilized (+2 Brace) for cumulative damage reduction. Against swarms of weak enemies that deal 1-2 damage per hit, Brace can effectively negate their attacks entirely. The disorder is outclassed by stronger options like Brain Dead, The Shining, or Immortal, but if you are stuck with it, at least it provides a small benefit rather than a penalty.
