Cowardly is a negative nature disorder that may cause the cat to flee from combat instead of acting normally. When the flee triggers, the cat wastes its turn running away rather than attacking or casting spells. This makes the cat unreliable in fights since you cannot predict when it will choose to flee instead of following your commands.

Cowardly is heritable and can pass from parent to kitten through breeding. It can also be acquired through events or applied with a Disorder Syringe from the Organ Grinder. The flee mechanic is probabilistic, meaning it does not trigger every turn but introduces random unreliability into the cat's combat performance. The trigger rate determines how frequently the cat flees instead of acting.

Cowardly is a purely negative disorder with no compensating benefit and should be replaced as soon as possible. The random flee chance wastes turns that could be spent attacking or supporting allies. Any disorder that provides even a small positive effect while causing a minor penalty would be preferable. Cowardly is particularly damaging on cats in critical roles like main damage dealer or primary healer, where a wasted turn can cost the battle.
