Spontaneous Combustion

When you take damage from an ability, you have a 15% chance to inflict Burn 5 on yourself and adjacent units.

Spontaneous Combustion gives your cat a 15% chance to burst into flames whenever it takes damage from an ability, inflicting Burn 5 on itself and all adjacent units. This is a double-edged effect: it can devastate clustered enemies who are standing next to your cat, but it also burns your own cat and any nearby allies. Burn 5 is a substantial fire damage-over-time effect that ticks for multiple turns, making the self-damage potentially lethal if it triggers repeatedly.

Spontaneous Combustion is heritable and can pass from parent to kitten through breeding. It can also be acquired through events or applied with a Disorder Syringe from the Organ Grinder. The 15% trigger chance means it will not fire every time you take a hit, but in battles with many incoming attacks, it will inevitably activate multiple times. The adjacent-unit splash makes positioning critical: keep your allies away from the Spontaneous Combustion cat to avoid friendly fire.

This disorder synergizes powerfully with the Charred disorder, which makes your cat immune to Burn. With Charred equipped, Spontaneous Combustion becomes a pure offensive tool that torches nearby enemies whenever you take a hit without harming yourself at all. Without burn immunity, the self-inflicted Burn 5 stacks can kill your cat faster than the enemies can. Cats with high Constitution or access to burn-cleansing abilities can also manage the self-damage, but the Charred combo is the cleanest solution.
