Carcass

Movement: 0

The Carcass is a rotting corpse enemy found in The Desert and The Rift with a mere 1 HP in its regular form. Appearing as little more than a shambling piece of dead flesh, the Carcass seems trivially easy to dispatch, but its value lies not in its own combat ability but in what it produces. The Carcass functions primarily as a mobile Maggot spawner, steadily generating a variety of maggot types to overwhelm the battlefield with small but dangerous reinforcements.

Each turn, the Carcass spawns random types of Maggots, including the basic Maggot melee attacker, the Chargey Maggot with its infinite-range trample dash, the Diggy Maggot that swaps positions with targets, and the Burfer Maggot that surrounds units with Thorny Tumor prisons. The randomness of the spawns makes each Carcass encounter unpredictable, as you might face a manageable wave of basic Maggots or a devastating combination of Chargey and Diggy variants. The Carcass leaves no corpse when defeated, preventing any on-death interactions.

With only 1 HP, the Carcass can be killed by any single hit from any source, making it the easiest enemy in the game to eliminate. The challenge is reaching it before it spawns too many Maggots, as every turn it survives adds more threats to the board. Prioritize Carcasses immediately in encounters where they appear alongside other enemies, since the Maggot spawns compound exponentially with time. Champions have 5 HP and 0 movement but produce the same variety of dangerous Maggot types, requiring slightly more effort to eliminate but remaining stationary for easy targeting.
