Chicken
Passive summon or event creature.
Chicken is a common large bonus bird with 16 HP, 5 damage, and 3 movement that appears across all chapters of Mewgenics. Like other bonus birds, Chickens are peaceful enemies that spawn with a low chance when entering a level. They wander randomly each turn, ignoring hazards like brambles, and will flee from the battle on their third turn if not killed first.
Chickens are not entirely passive: if struck while adjacent, they peck back at the attacker and then flee to a random tile. Killing a Chicken grants the attacker +1 All Stats Up for the rest of combat and a bonus item. The drop pool is particularly strong, including Rotisserie Chicken (consumable, heals 15 HP), Golden Egg (trinket, yields 3 to 5 extra coins per battle), Weird Egg (trinket, 10% chance to spawn a controllable fetus familiar), and Raptor Egg (consumable, full heal with a 10% chance to summon a charmed Raptor Kitten). The Golden Egg's persistent coin bonus makes Chickens especially valuable for economy-focused runs.
With a three-turn window before escape, Chickens give you more time than Doves (one turn) but less than Turkeys. Their 16 HP requires a dedicated effort to bring down, so position a high-damage cat to burst it quickly rather than chipping over multiple rounds. During the Birdemic weather event, Chickens become hostile and attack both player and enemy units, abandoning their normal flee timer entirely.
