Dack

Movement: 3

Dack is a Thief-class cat miniboss with 60 HP, 5 damage, 3 movement, and 5 Luck, found in The Desert. He represents the Thief archetype among the four Desert minibosses and combines poison, coin manipulation, and acrobatic rolling into a highly mobile hit-and-run fighting style. Originally named Jack, the developers changed his name because playtesters kept confusing him with Baby Jack. His name may reference Dack Fayden, the greatest thief in the Magic: The Gathering multiverse.

Dack's melee strike inflicts Poison on adjacent units, adding damage-over-time pressure on top of the direct hit. His ranged attack reaches up to 3 tiles and spawns coins on the battlefield when it connects. He collects those coins to gain Backflip charges, which grant evasion and make him harder to pin down. His movement kit includes a cardinal roll that covers up to 10 tiles and passes through obstacles, plus a diagonal roll covering approximately 3 tiles with the same pass-through capability. This extreme mobility lets him zip across the entire battlefield in a single turn, poison a target, and roll away before retaliation.

Managing coin spawns is key to controlling Dack's power level. Every coin he collects empowers his defensive Backflip charges, so picking up coins before he can reach them denies his evasion stacking. Maintain distance to avoid his poison melee when possible, and use area-of-effect or guaranteed-hit abilities to bypass his Backflip evasion. His high mobility via rolling makes him difficult to corner, but predictive positioning at diagonal angles can catch him mid-roll. Dack has Champion and Robo variants.
