Rune Set

The Rune Set provides a flat +2 Divine Shield bonus, adding a specialized protective layer that blocks specific damage types. Divine Shield is distinct from regular Shield and stacks on top of it, providing an additional buffer. Particularly valuable in magic-heavy or holy-damage encounters, and it synergizes well with the Obelisk Set's ongoing Divine Shield generation for builds that want to maximize this protective stat.

Rune Set pieces use arcane rune and magical inscription-themed gear across head, neck, and face slots. The 3-piece bonus grants +2 Divine Shield as a permanent flat bonus. Divine Shield is a secondary shield pool that may block different damage types than regular Shield — often spiritual, magical, or holy-type damage. It functions as an additional buffer on top of your existing Shield and HP.

Rune Set is a niche defensive set most valuable against magic-dealing or spirit-type enemies. The +2 Divine Shield alone is modest, but it stacks with Obelisk Set's per-turn and per-unused-movement Divine Shield gains for a combined Divine Shield buildup. In runs with frequent magical or holy-damage enemies, the combination of Rune and Obelisk Sets creates a formidable special defense layer. In physical-damage heavy runs, the value is minimal — use standard Shield or HP sets instead.
