Cat Rib

Cat Rib is a rare trinket from the Bone set that cheats death: when your cat's body is destroyed, instead of dying it is reborn as a kitten. This second chance comes with significant tradeoffs. The reborn kitten's level resets to 0 (losing all stats gained from leveling), all disorders are removed, and permanent stat boosts from consumables like Steroids are lost. The kitten also suffers an all-stats-down penalty. However, the cat keeps all of its abilities, making it still combat-capable despite the stat loss.

A key benefit is that a reborn kitten will not be retired upon finishing the adventure, allowing you to take it on another run. Note that the cat's collar cannot be changed after rebirth unless it was collarless beforehand. Cat Rib has a notable synergy with Cancer: if your cat dies in the very last fight while holding both items, the reborn kitten retains all mutations without Cancer's usual stat penalties (this also works with Tainted Genes). Items and abilities that multiply your trinket, such as Cap and Bells, Copycat Scarf, Copycat Mask, Copycat Hat, Rune of Jera, Enchanted Relic, and Armor Specialist, will spawn additional kittens on death. Be aware that being reborn during a house boss battle and winning still retires the cat.
