Cinder Block

The Cinder Block is a common head armor with +3 Shield and no other effects. It's a straightforward early defensive option with no downsides and no synergy angle — just Shield. Worth equipping if your head slot is empty and nothing more interesting has appeared yet.

+3 Shield with zero penalties puts Cinder Block in the same defensive tier as the Oak Helmet but without the Flammable liability. You can equip it in any zone against any enemy type without worrying about a conditional weakness. At common rarity it's frequently available, making it a dependable early fallback that's never a wrong choice when the head slot is otherwise empty.

Use it as a bridge piece until something better appears. It suits any cat in any zone and doesn't lock you into any particular build direction. If you're forced to choose between Cinder Block and a head piece with a small but situational special effect, Cinder Block's unconditional +3 Shield often wins in the early game when your cats are fragile. Replace it the moment you find a head armor with a meaningful effect or higher Shield value.
