Item
Head Spring
Common
A spring-loaded head piece that bounces melee attackers back 10 tiles when they strike you. The attacker still deals damage, but the forced displacement means they spend their next turn closing the gap again — breaking enemy pressure and buying valuable breathing room. Strong passive defense against melee-heavy encounters. Part of the Scrap set.
The 10-tile knockback is among the largest reactive displacement effects in the game. Enemies launched that far often land against walls or environmental hazards, potentially taking impact damage on top of the bounce. Against enemies with high melee damage but limited ranged options, the Head Spring transforms their attack into an involuntary retreat that wastes their next action entirely.
Particularly punishing in confined arenas where 10 tiles of knockback puts enemies against walls, potentially dealing collision damage. Fish Hook trinket converts knockback distance into bonus damage — if you're also wearing Fish Hook, the Head Spring's 10-tile bounce effectively deals 10 bonus damage to every melee attacker that hits you. The head slot cost means evaluating it against other strong head pieces like Nightmare Hat or Mangy Wig.
