Scalding Orb

A scorching quest weapon that functions like a hot potato, passing burn through the party. Grants SPD +3 to its bearer and targets allied cats with empty weapon slots, inflicting 3 Burn on units adjacent to the target. The bearer also takes 3 Burn at the end of their turn. Transport it to the Moon and sacrifice its bearer to the Man in the Moon to instantly win that fight and activate the Black Obelisk. Obtained by defeating Pyrophina in her solo encounter. Part of the Molten set.

The SPD +3 bonus makes the Scalding Orb bearer one of the fastest cats on the field, ensuring they act early each round and enabling them to start positioning for the sacrifice mechanic quickly. The self-Burn and adjacent-ally Burn require careful party management — spreading allied cats out avoids the proximity Burn splashing onto teammates, but the bearer's own 3 Burn per turn is unavoidable. Fire resistance or Burn immunity on the carrier greatly extends their survival window.

Assign the Scalding Orb to a durable, fire-resistant cat with high CON to withstand the ongoing Burn damage. The instant-win sacrifice at the Moon is the primary quest objective — the Scalding Orb carrier will be lost, so don't assign it to your most critical party member if you can avoid it. The SPD bonus and fire-spreading properties are useful in combat along the way, making the carrier a fast, disruptive frontline threat until the moment of sacrifice.
