Marked

Marked is a powerful offensive debuff that causes all incoming physical damage against the afflicted unit to have 100% crit chance, ignore Shield, and never miss. Stacks reduce by 1 per turn, making it a temporary but highly impactful window for burst damage. Marked transforms any physical attack into a guaranteed critical hit that bypasses defensive barriers, creating ideal conditions for focus-fire strategies.

The guaranteed crit from Marked means physical damage is effectively doubled (or more with crit damage bonuses), making it exceptionally valuable against high-health targets. The Shield-ignoring property is equally important, as it negates one of the primary defensive mechanics in the game. Combined with the inability to miss, Marked removes all three layers of physical defense (dodge, shield, non-crit damage) simultaneously. This makes Marked the premier offensive setup debuff for physical damage builds.

Marked pairs extremely well with Stun, as a stunned and marked enemy cannot act while your team delivers guaranteed critical hits. High-attack-count abilities and Extra Attacks maximize the value of each Marked turn, since every hit benefits from the guaranteed crit and shield bypass. The magic-element counterpart to Marked is Magic Weakness, which provides similar guaranteed crits and miss immunity for magic damage. When your own cats are Marked, reducing physical damage intake through Brace or positioning out of enemy attack range is essential to survival.
