Acid Rain is one of the most punishing attrition weather effects in Mewgenics, dealing 2 points of unblockable damage to every unit on the battlefield at the end of each round while also carrying a chance to randomly lower one of the affected unit's stats.
Compared to Sandstorm's 1 damage per round with no additional effects, Acid Rain is dramatically worse. The doubled damage means that after just 4 rounds, every unit has taken 8 free damage, which is enough to put fragile cats into critical range. The stat degradation compounds the problem by making your cats progressively weaker as the fight goes on. Losing a point of Strength reduces your damage output. Losing Speed means acting later in the turn order. Losing Constitution shrinks your HP pool. Every stat loss makes subsequent rounds harder to survive.
This dual punishment creates extreme urgency to end fights quickly. Rush-down builds with high burst damage are strongly favored, as every additional round costs health and stats. Attrition-based strategies are essentially unviable under Acid Rain, since the weather punishes you more than it punishes enemies (who have higher collective HP pools and care less about individual stat points).
Shield-stacking abilities and items provide some relief, as Shield HP absorbs the Acid Rain damage before it touches your cat's actual health. Healing abilities offset the damage but cannot prevent the stat degradation, so they buy time without fully solving the problem.
Acid Rain can appear in any biome and is classified as an uncommon weather. It is one of the strongest incentives in the game to invest in fast, aggressive team compositions.
