Rain: 1

Rain is one of the most impactful and strategically significant weather effects in Mewgenics. When Rain is active, it creates a Persistent Water Element across the entire battlefield, applying the Wet status to every unit in combat. This single change cascades through the game's elemental interaction system, creating both powerful opportunities and serious vulnerabilities for your team.

The most immediate effect of Rain is that all Fire Tiles are extinguished and all Burn stacks are cured. For players struggling with fire-heavy encounters (particularly in The Desert), Rain provides massive relief. Fire-based abilities deal reduced damage, and fire-element enemies lose a significant portion of their toolkit. At the same time, Grass Tiles and Flower Tiles grow into Tall Grass and Tall Flowers, providing the 50% dodge bonus that Stealth and Rogue builds thrive on.

Where Rain truly shines is in its elemental amplification. Because every unit is Wet, Electric attacks become devastatingly effective. Electric damage conducts through Wet units, enabling chain lightning effects that can cascade across clustered enemies. Ice attacks gain the ability to inflict Freeze on Wet targets, which locks them in place and grants immunity to all non-Fire damage (effectively removing them from combat for a turn). Building a team around Electric or Ice synergies under Rain can produce some of the most dominant combat performances in the game.

Rain also has a unique interaction with the Radical Rat boss in Act 1. The Wet status instantly kills his signature Rat Bombs, completely neutralizing his primary attack pattern. If you see Rain before a Radical Rat encounter, the fight becomes dramatically easier.

The most important strategic application of Rain, however, involves The Desert. Heat Wave is the mandatory weather in Desert zones, preventing between-battle healing and disabling Freeze. But if Rain is active at your house hub when you enter The Desert, it overrides Heat Wave entirely. This interaction is widely considered one of the single most powerful tactical advantages in Mewgenics, and experienced players will often wait for Rain at the hub before pushing into Act 2.

Be aware that Rain also makes your own cats vulnerable to enemy Electric and Ice attacks. Teams without resistance to these elements should be cautious, especially in zones where Electric-element enemies are common.
