Broken Limb

You can't equip trinkets or consumables. +2 Thorns.

Broken Limb prevents your cat from equipping trinkets or consumables but compensates with +2 Thorns. The Thorns effect deals 2 damage back to any enemy that attacks your cat in melee, providing passive retaliatory damage. Losing trinkets and consumables removes access to special passive effects and active item abilities, which can be a significant restriction depending on your build.

Broken Limb is heritable and belongs to the injury category. It can pass from parent to kitten through breeding or be acquired through events and the Organ Grinder's Disorder Syringe. The +2 Thorns makes melee enemies pay for attacking the cat, which is useful on frontline tanks that absorb many hits. The consumable restriction removes healing items from combat, which is a notable loss for sustain-focused builds.

Strategically, Broken Limb works on cats that do not rely on trinket or consumable effects. The +2 Thorns provides decent retaliatory damage against melee attackers, synergizing with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (which also gives Thorns and Bleed Thorns) for high passive damage return. The consumable restriction hurts builds that rely on healing items or buff consumables. On cats with alternative healing (The Hunger, Narcolepsy) and no critical trinket abilities, Broken Limb is manageable.
