Disorder

The Hunger

Your basic attack has lifesteal.

The Hunger gives your cat's basic attack lifesteal, meaning every basic attack heals your cat for a portion of the damage dealt. This turns your basic attack into both an offensive and defensive tool, allowing aggressive cats to sustain themselves through combat without relying on external healing. The lifesteal applies to every basic attack hit, so cats with multi-strike basics or high attack speed benefit the most.

The Hunger is heritable and can pass from parent to kitten through breeding. It can also be acquired through events or applied with a Disorder Syringe from the Organ Grinder. Unlike many disorders that impose harsh penalties alongside their benefits, The Hunger is almost entirely positive. The lifesteal on basic attacks has no apparent downside, making this one of the more desirable disorders to roll on a combat-focused cat.

Strategically, The Hunger excels on melee-focused cats with high Strength who deal significant damage with their basic attacks, since lifesteal scales with damage dealt. It pairs well with Flaming Fists (which adds burn to basics) and Feline Aids (which adds poison and weakness) to create a basic attack that heals you, burns, poisons, and weakens the target simultaneously. The Hunger is less useful on pure caster cats that rarely use basic attacks, so make sure the cat carrying it actually plans to swing in melee regularly.
