Enemy
Caterpillar
Passive small enemy that transforms or cocoons.
The Caterpillar is a slow, fragile familiar unit that grows stronger each turn it survives. It starts with rock-bottom stats: 1 HP, 1 damage, 1 movement, and 1 Luck. Found in all chapters, the Caterpillar can be summoned through the Druid class's summoning abilities. It functions less as a direct combat threat and more as a ticking timer that demands a response.
At the end of each of its turns, the Caterpillar gains an All Stats Up buff, incrementally increasing all of its stats. Once it accumulates five stacks of All Stats Up, it transforms into a Moth, a significantly more capable unit with flight, higher stats, and additional combat abilities. This evolution is permanent and cannot be reversed, making the Caterpillar a high-value investment if you can keep it alive long enough to transform.
When facing enemy Caterpillars, prioritize killing them before they reach five stacks. At 1 HP they die to any damage, so even a stray area-of-effect ability eliminates the threat. When using friendly Caterpillars, protect them behind your frontline and let them passively accumulate buffs. The transformation to Moth typically takes five turns, which can feel like an eternity in a dangerous fight, but the payoff is a fully powered flying unit that can dominate the battlefield.
