Cave Baby is a young caveman enemy found in The Ice Age with 20 HP. It begins combat as a relatively weak melee attacker with a lifesteal attack, healing itself from each hit it lands. Its key mechanic is growth: when it reaches full health — whether through lifesteal or other healing — it matures into a full adult Caveman, substantially increasing its threat level. Like all caveman-type enemies, it hates cats and prioritizes attacking feline units.

The lifesteal-to-growth mechanic means Cave Baby is self-sustaining as long as it keeps landing attacks. In encounters with other caveman types, Cave Babies add pressure from a second direction while the adults occupy your cats in the front line. Allowing a Cave Baby to heal to full and transform is essentially spawning an additional adult Caveman mid-fight, compounding the problem.

Eliminate Cave Babies before they reach full health to deny the transformation. Because they sustain themselves through lifesteal, you cannot simply ignore them while they whittle away at your cats — every hit they land inches them closer to growing up. Consistent damage output to keep them below their growth threshold is the cleanest approach. Poison or Bleed applied before they can land attacks is particularly effective since the DoT drains HP while denying the healing window they need to mature.
