Mummified Mangy

The Mummified Mangy is an undead variant of the Mangy found in the Desert and The Lab chapters. Like the regular Mangy it uses a ranged attack that may inflict Poison, but it adds two dangerous mechanics: it spawns Maggots when struck, and transforms into a Carcass upon death. The combination of spawn-on-hit and post-death transformation makes it one of the most resource-intensive enemies to deal with cleanly.

Each hit on the Mummified Mangy produces a Maggot, so multi-hit combos are especially counterproductive — a four-hit attack spawns four Maggots simultaneously. When it finally dies, the resulting Carcass can itself spawn more Maggots if attacked, extending the fight well beyond the initial target. Champion Mummified Mangys spawn Champion Maggots, which are significantly more dangerous.

Use the fewest hits possible to kill the Mummified Mangy — ideally a single high-damage blow that eliminates it without triggering multiple Maggot spawns. Save burst-damage resources or ability charges for after it dies, since the Carcass it leaves behind can continue spawning if attacked carelessly. Keep the fight area clear so the spawned Maggots don't immediately threaten your already-occupied cats.
