Seagull

Coastal flying summon.

Seagull is an uncommon medium bonus bird encountered throughout all chapters of Mewgenics. Like other bonus birds, Seagulls are entirely neutral: they wander randomly across the battlefield, ignore environmental hazards like brambles, and will eventually fly away from the level if left alone. They spawn with a low chance when entering a level and never interact with other units on their own.

Any cat that kills a Seagull earns +1 All Stats Up and receives a bonus chapter item. The Seagull may also drop Bird Poop, a head equipment piece that reduces Charisma by 1 but increases the spawn chance of bonus birds in future battles by 50%. While the Charisma penalty is a drawback, the increased bird spawn rate compounds over an entire run, leading to more stat boosts and item drops from future bird encounters. Stacking Bird Poop with Bird Feed (from Pigeons) creates a very high frequency of bonus birds per battle.

Seagulls are moderate targets in the bonus bird hierarchy: easier to reach than Turkeys or Chickens due to their wandering behavior, but they flee after a few turns like most birds. Prioritize them when convenient, but do not sacrifice positioning in a dangerous fight to chase one down. During the Birdemic weather event, Seagulls become hostile alongside all other birds.
