Bear Trap Mask

A repurposed bear trap strapped directly to the face. Shield:4 absorbs hits, and BleedThorns means the return damage also inflicts Bleed — so every attack against the wearer deals thorns damage and starts a bleed on the attacker. The Metal tag adds synergy with magnet or metal-manipulation effects. Solid face slot for builds that want to discourage melee engagement.

BleedThorns applies both direct physical damage and a Bleed status effect to anyone who strikes the wearer in melee. Bleed then deals damage over time, meaning each melee hit against the wearer generates ongoing bleed damage that continues ticking. In fights with multiple melee attackers, the bleed stacks compound across all of them simultaneously. Shield:4 gives the wearer enough durability to survive long enough for the bleeds to contribute significant damage over time.

Bear Trap Mask is especially effective against melee-heavy enemy groups where every attacker bleeds from striking the wearer. Synergizes with other bleed-amplifying items or abilities to make each BleedThorns proc more damaging. The Metal tag provides bonus synergy in metal-themed builds. Competes with Barbed Scrap and Pins and Needles for the retaliation-thorns face slot — Bear Trap Mask wins when Bleed application is more valuable than a pure status debuff.
