Glowing Black Shard

The fully charged form of the Black Shard, achieved after absorbing 20 low-HP enemies. Deals 5 damage with Lifesteal, inflicts Burn 5, and purges all buffs from the target. Crucially, it instantly kills The Coven boss — and doing so activates the Obelisk in the Core, advancing the main questline. Part of the Obelisk set.

The Lifesteal on this weapon means every hit heals the wielder for 5 HP, making it self-sustaining in extended combat. Burn 5 is a strong damage-over-time application that compounds after each hit. The buff purge is particularly effective against enemies that stack defensive buffs or status resistances, stripping their protection before follow-up attacks land. Against regular enemies this is a strong weapon; against The Coven it is a guaranteed one-hit kill.

Reaching 20 absorptions across runs rather than in a single run means there is no reason to rush the charging process — play the Black Shard consistently and the Glowing form will arrive eventually. Once charged, save the instant-kill for The Coven fight to activate the Core obelisk if that is your quest goal, or use it freely as a powerful combat weapon with Lifesteal, Burn, and buff removal. For Obelisk set builds, this is the capstone item.
