Healing Gauze

Medical gauze wrapped carefully around the neck. PassiveWhileShielded activates a passive effect only while the wearer has any shield remaining — incentivizing shield-heavy builds that can maintain their shield through most of a fight. The passive drops when the shield does, so high-shield builds get sustained value while tankier builds that lose shield quickly get less.

The passive granted while shielded functions as a conditional bonus that rewards building around Shield regeneration or high Shield totals. Items like the Brick set pieces, Bone Marrow for post-battle recovery, or shield-restore abilities keep the condition active longer. Once the Shield hits zero the bonus stops, so in tough fights the window may be brief unless you can replenish it.

Best on frontline tanks or cats with the Leather Jacket (which also provides Shield) where maintaining a shield pool for most of the fight is achievable. Low-Shield cats who lose it on the first hit get minimal benefit. If the passive granted is defensive in nature, it compounds with the shield itself to make the wearer unusually durable during the early fight turns.
