Elite Buff: Mad (Boss)

Madness. Gains +1 all stats and heals 4 when it gets a kill.

Internal engine status effect. This is the boss-specific variant of the Mad elite buff. Mad causes the enemy to become enraged, increasing their attack damage and potentially gaining additional attacks per turn. The boss version amplifies the rage, making the boss hit even harder while in a frenzied state.

Mad Boss enemies gain +1 All Stats Up and 4 healing on each kill, plus an extra turn per round. Combined with Madness (which causes the boss to attack everything indiscriminately, including other enemies), this creates a chaotic and extremely dangerous encounter. The boss may kill its own allies and heal from doing so, growing stronger as the battlefield clears.

The extra turn and kill-healing from Mad Boss means the fight can spiral out of control if the boss eliminates weaker enemies on the field. In encounters with many small enemies, the Mad boss may farm kills to stack All Stats Up, becoming progressively more powerful. Focus the boss down as quickly as possible and avoid leaving weak targets for it to harvest. Defensive buffs like Shield and Brace help survive the enhanced damage output.
