Madness

Thinks everything is an enemy. Uncontrollable.

Madness is an allegiance debuff that causes the afflicted unit to turn against its own team, attacking allies as if they were enemies. A cat suffering from Madness becomes an active threat to your own formation, and its attacks deal full damage to your other cats. This makes Madness one of the most dangerous debuffs in the game, especially on high-damage units.

Madness is applied by certain psychic and dark-themed enemies, and can also be triggered by the Rabies disorder once a cat's Intelligence drops to zero. The PermanentMadness variant cannot be cleansed and lasts for the remainder of the encounter. Managing Madness requires either immediate cleansing, isolating the affected cat from allies, or focusing it down before it causes too much friendly fire. The Depression disorder's aura effect can spread stat debuffs that push cats closer to Madness thresholds, creating dangerous chain reactions.
