Solar Flare

SolarFlare: {"damage":5,"effects":{"Burn":3,"Blind":3},"elements":["Fire"]}

Solar Flare is a rare and highly dangerous weather effect in Mewgenics that bombards the battlefield with intense bursts of solar energy at the end of each round. Each flare targets a cluster of tiles, and any unit caught in the blast zone receives both Burn and Blind status effects.

Burn is manageable on its own, dealing damage over time that can be cured by water or waiting it out. The real threat from Solar Flare is the Blind debuff. Blind severely reduces a unit's combat effectiveness, causing missed attacks and impaired ability usage. A cat that gets Blinded at a critical moment, like right before a boss's heavy attack or during a turn where you need to land a finishing blow, can derail an entire encounter.

The saving grace of Solar Flare is that the targeted area is announced before the flare actually lands. A visual indicator shows which tiles will be hit at the end of the current round, giving you a window to reposition your cats out of the danger zone. This makes movement speed and mobility critically important. Cats with high Speed stats, teleport abilities, or jump movement can escape the blast radius more reliably than slow, heavily armored tanks.

Solar Flare demands constant awareness of the battlefield. Every round, you need to check the indicator, assess whether any of your cats are in the blast zone, and potentially sacrifice offensive actions to move them to safety. Fights under Solar Flare tend to feel more reactive and defensive, with less room for aggressive positioning.

Solar Flare can appear in any biome and is classified as a rare weather. Fire-immune cats are unaffected by the Burn component but still suffer from Blind, so even fire-resistant teams need to respect the repositioning game.
