Wildfire

Wildfire is a fire-element weather effect in Mewgenics that scatters burning tiles across the battlefield at the start of each encounter. Any unit that walks over or ends its turn on a fire tile receives the Burn status effect, which deals escalating damage over time and must be cured or waited out.
Unlike Firestorm, Wildfire does not create a Persistent Fire Element. The fire tiles are localized hazards rather than a global modifier, meaning Fire-element builds do not receive a blanket damage boost. However, the fire tiles themselves can spread to adjacent flammable surfaces like Grass Tiles, Tall Grass, Oil Puddles, and Flower Tiles. A single wildfire tile next to an Overgrowth patch can rapidly consume the entire area, transforming cover into a blazing inferno.
Navigating a Wildfire battlefield requires careful pathing. Melee cats need to plan their movement routes to avoid fire tiles on the way to their targets, which can mean taking longer paths and arriving one or two turns later than usual. Ranged builds have an inherent advantage since they can attack from safe positions without needing to cross hazardous terrain.
Water abilities are the primary counter to Wildfire. Any ability that creates water tiles or applies Wet status can extinguish fire tiles, clearing paths for your team. Cats with the Fire Element mutation are immune to Burn and can walk through fire tiles without penalty, making them valuable team members when Wildfire is active.
Wildfire can appear in any biome and is an uncommon weather. In The Desert, where fire-related hazards are already prevalent, Wildfire compounds the existing danger and makes water supplies even more critical.
