Boss

Fenrir

Very fast; takes multiple actions per round. Deploys bear traps that punish melee. Deflects melee attacks.

Fenrir is a mini-boss encountered mid-chapter in The Alley, a stealthy predator who uses camouflage and traps to control the battlefield. As the absolute king of camo, Fenrir hides in grass tiles throughout the arena, making him difficult to track between attacks. His fight teaches players early on about terrain awareness and the danger of blindly moving cats across the board without checking for hidden threats.

Fenrir's primary gimmick is setting bear traps around the map that fade shortly after placement, becoming invisible. Walking into a bear trap immobilizes the affected cat, leaving them vulnerable to Fenrir's follow-up attacks. Tracking where he places traps is essential, as stepping on one at the wrong moment can leave a key unit stranded. He also has frontal knockback that punishes melee attackers who approach head-on, pushing them back and potentially into hidden traps.

Ranged attacks are the best approach against Fenrir, as frontal melee attackers will be knocked back. The Hunter and Mage serve as primary damage dealers, so bringing the default Collars with a balanced party works well at this stage. Keep mental track of trap placement locations and move cats along paths you know are safe. If a cat does get trapped, use ranged abilities to continue pressuring Fenrir rather than wasting turns trying to free the immobilized unit. Fenrir is one of several Alley mini-bosses (alongside Lucy, Magnus, and Maisie) that test different aspects of tactical play before the chapter's final boss.
