Boss

Zodiac

Gunslinger cowboy cat. Heavy ranged pressure with frequent multi-shot attacks across the map. Punishes open-tile positioning. Relies on cover and using familiars as bullet sponges.

Zodiac is the final boss of the Desert in Act 2, a crazed gunslinger cowboy cat who maintains relentless multi-shot ranged pressure across the entire map. With six bullets in his revolver and the ability to shoot anything that moves to another tile, Zodiac turns the fight into a deadly game of calculated movement where every repositioning decision could draw lethal fire. He is one of the most mechanically distinct bosses in the game, punishing players who rely on constant movement without thinking about line-of-sight management.

Zodiac's core mechanic is his reactive shooting: he fires at anything that moves to another tile, including objects that have been displaced. However, he does not shoot at cats that perform actions without changing tiles, meaning abilities that attack in place or buff without movement are completely safe. His revolver holds six shots, and attempting to fire a seventh causes him to get confused and put his gun away, leaving him temporarily defenseless. This ammunition system is the key exploit: by forcing him to waste bullets on moved objects, cover, or disposable summons, you can drain his ammo and create safe windows for aggressive repositioning.

A Thief with teleport abilities trivializes large portions of this encounter by repositioning behind Zodiac without triggering his line-of-sight shooting. The recommended team composition is Thief, Hunter, Tank, and Cleric. Never move your Cleric without something (ideally your Tank) in front of them, as their healing is crucial for survival. Take positions behind durable cover and track his shot count to anticipate the reload window. On defeat, Zodiac can drop Zodiac's Poncho (a Neck accessory granting +1 Range and placing a Bounty on one random enemy during your turn) and Zodiac's Six Shooter (a Weapon that fires within your line of sight and automatically shoots enemies that end movement in range, reloading at the end of each battle).
