Disorder
Infestation
At the start of your turn, you have a 50% chance to spawn a Maggot Familiar and 15% chance to spawn an enemy Flea.
Infestation gives your cat a 50% chance to spawn a friendly Maggot Familiar and a 15% chance to spawn an enemy Flea at the start of each turn. The Maggot Familiar fights alongside you as an allied unit, while the Flea is a hostile pest that attacks your party. This creates a chaotic spawning mechanic where each turn might produce a helpful ally, a dangerous enemy, both, or neither.
Infestation is heritable and can pass from parent to kitten through breeding. It can also be acquired through events or applied with a Disorder Syringe from the Organ Grinder. The 50% Maggot spawn rate means you get a new familiar roughly every other turn, which can accumulate into a small army of maggots over the course of a battle. The 15% Flea spawn rate is lower but still introduces unwanted enemies periodically.
Strategically, Infestation is net positive since the Maggot spawn rate (50%) far exceeds the Flea spawn rate (15%). Over a battle, you will generate significantly more friendly units than hostile ones. The maggots serve as additional attackers, damage absorbers, and board presence. Infestation pairs well with Dark One (which benefits from more units on the field to damage and heal from) and builds that rely on unit quantity. The occasional Flea spawn is an annoyance but manageable for most parties.
