Sticky is the boss variant of the adhesive elite buff. When a cat strikes the Sticky boss in melee, it applies the Tarred status effect, slowing the attacker and reducing their movement range. The boss has a dark semi-transparent tint and tar particle effects. This melee retaliation penalizes close-range combat by punishing every melee hit with a speed-reducing debuff that accumulates over time.
On bosses, the Sticky debuff is more impactful because boss fights last longer, giving the Tarred stacks more turns to accumulate and restrict your melee cats' movement. A melee cat that attacks the Sticky boss repeatedly will become progressively slower, eventually unable to reposition effectively between attacks. This creates a compounding disadvantage where your frontline fighters lose mobility as the fight drags on. Sticky bosses with strong melee attacks of their own can exploit the speed reduction to keep your cats pinned in unfavorable positions.
Ranged attacks completely bypass the Tarred retaliation since no melee contact occurs. If you must engage in melee, rotate your cats so no single cat accumulates too many Tarred stacks. Tarred also makes units Flammable, so avoid using Fire abilities on your own Tarred cats. Speed-boosting effects can offset the movement penalty. Consider using knockback to keep the boss at range while your team deals damage from a safe distance. Classes with both melee and ranged options can switch to ranged mode against Sticky bosses without losing too much effectiveness.
