Chain Demon

Demon wrapped in chains that can restrain and drag enemies.

The Chain Demon is a fire-immune melee enemy found in The Core and The Rift with 13 HP, 4 damage, and 4 movement. Its high movement speed makes it one of the fastest enemies in The Core, capable of closing distance on backline units quickly. Like other demons in The Core, it is completely immune to fire damage, making fire-based abilities useless against it.

The Chain Demon's signature ability is its hook attack, which pulls targeted cats directly toward it regardless of their position. This disrupts carefully maintained formation spacing and can yank backline support or ranged cats into melee range where they are most vulnerable. Its melee attack deals physical damage and applies Burn on hit, creating sustained fire damage even though the Chain Demon itself is immune to the same effect.

Since fire damage is completely wasted against the Chain Demon, focus on physical, electric, or poison-based attacks. The hook pull is the main threat to manage: any cat that relies on staying at distance needs to be positioned carefully or kept behind cover that breaks line of sight. Knockback abilities can counteract the pull by pushing the Chain Demon away after it hooks, and having Wet status on vulnerable cats can mitigate the Burn it applies on hit. Prioritize Chain Demons in encounters where you have ranged-dependent cats, as their hook can single-handedly dismantle a backline strategy.
