Slag is a formidable End chapter enemy with a massive 40 HP pool, making it one of the most durable regular enemies in the game. Its defining mechanic is reactive spawning: it generates additional enemies based on how it takes damage, turning every attack against it into a potential reinforcement for the enemy side. This makes Slag one of the most tactically demanding enemies to fight efficiently.

Melee hits against Slag spawn Edemas (which themselves evolve into Husks if left alone), while ranged hits spawn Fly Swarms. This means virtually every conventional attack method triggers reinforcements that must be dealt with separately. The Slag's own ranged attack hits multiple tiles in an area and inflicts Bruise, adding direct offensive pressure on top of its spawning mechanic. In prolonged fights, the snowballing reinforcements can overwhelm a party that is not prepared.

The key exception to its spawn mechanic is knockback and status-effect damage, which harm the Slag without activating any spawn triggers. Building around knockback chains or damage-over-time effects like Poison, Bleed, or Burn is the safest approach. If you must use conventional attacks, focus on burst damage to minimize the total number of spawn events rather than chipping it down over many turns.
